About
Hi, I’m Steve Lichtman.
I’ve spent twenty-plus years building marketing systems and communities, mostly behind the scenes for consultants, coaches and business owners.
It started in 1985. I was twelve, running a dial-up BBS out of my bedroom on an IBM PCjr with one phone line. My mother spent a lot of time standing in that doorway while the modem screamed and the house phone went dead. Later it was automotive forums on vBulletin… thousands of members, four-figure server bills, and a fast education in reading the warning signs before something crashed.
Then twenty years in the family business. One of the first fully remote high-level telemarketing agencies in the country, selling into the tech world… IBM, Arrow, Ingram Micro, Veeam. Whatever systems we needed I built by hand, because the budget never pointed inward.
October 2012, Superstorm Sandy took the power out for weeks. Sitting in the dark with nothing to do but think is a hell of a way to find out you’re done with something. I left the family business that year to go off into the sunset on my own. It was time.
On my own it became fractional CMO work. Walk into a business, find where the marketing and the trust underneath it are broken, rebuild both, then put systems in place so it keeps running without me standing over it. One relationship ran past a decade. Hundreds more came and went. That level of work, for that many companies… I never once did it for mine.
Now I am. Same thinking, same systems, the kind of work that used to run a real retainer, in a community anyone can actually afford.
Outside of all that I’m a dad, a husband, and a Knicks fan who talks with his hands more than he should on a work call.
Build a business that runs without you.
Unshakable AF, the podcast, Trust Meter, the books. Different doors into the same room.
The kitchen table with a stack of proof copies is still out there somewhere, if you’re ever in the neighborhood.
